3.1/3.2 EDK - How do I step into driver functions in GDB?

Keywords: GDB, step, drivers

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When I debug firmware in GDB, is it possible to step into driver functions?

Yes. To step into driver functions within the GNU debugger, you must compile them in debug mode (with the "-g" switch in gcc). For library functions, you must pass the "-g" switch so that it is called by gcc when LibGen compiles the libraries.

1. In XPS, go to Options -> Compiler Options.
2. Click on "Others" and add "-g" to the "Extra compiler flags."

When LibGen is run, the "-g" switch will be used when the libraries are compiled.
