5.2i ISE - The option to add/use the ChipScope .cdc file is not available when I use third-party synthesis flows (".cdc file is not supported")

Keywords: Leonardo, Exemplar, Synplicity, Synplify, VHDL, ISE, Project Navigator, ChipScope, definition, connection

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
My project contains a .cdc file and has the synthesis option set to Synplify or Leonardo. A "Design Consistency Check" window reports that the .cdc file is not supported. Additionally, the "ChipScope Definition and Connection File" type is not available under "Project -> New Source". ChipScope is installed correctly and all ChipScope options are available when I select XST as the synthesis tool.

The message reporting that the .cdc file is not supported is erroneous and can be safely ignored. You can add a .cdc file to a third-party synthesis flow project; it is correctly displayed under "Sources in Project", and the implementation flow will complete correctly.

This problem is fixed in the latest 5.2i Service Pack, available at:
The first service pack containing the fix is 5.2i Service Pack 1.
