7.1i ePDCore - CORE Generator is not available from ePD and ViewDraw

Description

Keywords: eProduct, Dashboard, Dxdesigner, Innoveda, Mentor, interface, COREGen, schematic, symbol

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
The "Xilinx" and "Xilinx CORE Generator" options are not available from within ViewDraw.

The ViewDraw schematic capture tool has been integrated with the Xilinx CORE Generator tool to allow you to easily create parameterized design blocks. As a result, you can open the CORE Generator using the ViewDraw main menu, which now contains a "Xilinx" option with a sub-menu item called "Xilinx CORE Generator." You can also open CORE Generator by right-clicking on a schematic and selecting "Xilinx CORE Generator."

Solution

1

Set the XILINX environment variable

The "XILINX" environment variable must point to the correct Xilinx software installation location.

Solaris:
XILINX=/Tools/software/xilinx7

Windows:
Xilinx=C:\xilinx

The "WDIR" environment variable must include the location of the ePD Core files

Append the path of the ePD Core files in the "WDIR" environment variable with a colon (:) for Solaris, and a semicolon (;) for Windows.

Solaris:
WDIR=<existing path>:$XILINX/viewlog/data

Windows:
WDIR=<existing path>;%XILINX%\viewlog\data

The "EPDCORE" environment variable must include the location of the ePD Core files

Create the "EPDCORE" environment variable and add the path to the source files.

Solaris:
EPDCORE=$XILINX/viewlog/data

Windows:
EPDCORE=%XILINX%\viewlog\data

Add Xilinx libraries to the "viewdraw.ini" file

Add the following directory paths with aliases ("virtex" may be replaced with another Xilinx library) manually or by using the Dashboard "Add library" option. It is important to add these library paths before starting ePD Core.

DIR [rm] $XILINX\viewlog\data\virtex (virtex)
DIR [rm] $XILINX\viewlog\data\builtin (builtin)
DIR [rm] $XILINX\viewlog\data\xbuiltin (xbuiltin)

2

A schematic sheet must be open before the "Xilinx" menu option is available in ViewDraw.

3

On some Windows systems, your environment variable paths must use a forward-slash (rather than a backslash) to separate directories, as shown in the following example:

XILINX=c:/applications/xilinx
EPDCORE=%XILINX%/viewlog/data
WDIR <existing path>;%XILINX%/viewlog/data

The above settings enable the "Xilinx" menu option in ViewDraw. However, if a backlash (\) is used instead of a forward-slash (/) in any of the above variables, ViewDraw either runs without the "Xilinx" menu option or reports a licensing error and does not run.
