6.1i MAP - A core dump occurs when the -convert option is used on a design with no Area Groups

Description

Keywords: -convert, conversion, crash

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
A core dump occurs in MAP when the -convert option is used (no -gm specified) on a design with no Area Groups. The default guide mode for -convert is -gm incremental. It is a requirement for -gm incremental for the design to have at least one Area Group.

Solution

This problem has been fixed in the latest 6.1i Service Pack, available at:
http://support.xilinx.com/support/techsup/sw_updates
The first service pack containing the fix is 6.1i Service Pack 1.

You can also work around this problem by specifing -gm leverage for designs with no Area Groups.

Another way to work around this issue is to use the map switch "-gm leverage".
