Partial Reconfiguration - Why are the bitstreams of my reconfigurable modules different sizes?

Description

I have created two partial bitstreams for one of my modules in Partial Reconfiguration, but the bit files are two different sizes. Since they are programming the same number of frames, why are they not the same size?

Solution

In Partial Reconfiguration, BitGen produces partial bitstreams with "Multi Frame Writes." Therefore, the bitstream can write multiple frames at once, making the bit files different sizes depending on the design of the module. This was done to ensure that the bitstreams would be as small as possible.
