Description
Keywords: install, Linux, 6.2i, error, cannot, create, permission, denied, /lib/modules/misc
When my 6.2i software installation concludes with CD Disc 2 of 2, the following message appears in my Linux terminal window:
"mkdir: cannot create directory /lib/modules/misc. : permission denied"
Solution
This error occurs when the installer is not able to copy the Linux cable driver to the system directory. This occurs if:
1. The user was not logged in as ROOT during the cable installation. Please log in as ROOT, re-run CD Disc 2 and reinstall the
Programming Tools.
2. The kernel version of the target system is not compatible with the driver version delivered by the installer. Please see
(Xilinx Answer 18612) for further information on cable driver compatibility with Linux versions that are supported by ISE 6.2i.
