How do I run the XtremeDSP Kit PCI Hardware in the loop simulation? 

 

For XtremeDSP Kit USB Hardware in the loop Simulation, see (Xilinx Answer 17334).

Solution

To ensure that the XtremeDSP Kit or XtremeDSP Kit-II is set up correctly, follow these steps: 

1. Open the FUSE Software, and select Programs -> FUSE -> Software -> FUSE Probe. 

2. Open the XtremeDSP Kit Card by selecting Card Control -> Open Card. 

3. The default Interface should be set to PCI. Press Locate Cards. 

4. The FUSE Software should detect the card and return the Serial Number. Press Open Cards. 

5. Once the card is opened, you should see a picture on the left, along with a product tree that lists the BenONE and BenADDA card. 

6. Close the FUSE Software, making sure to close all of the cards. 

7. If the card is working, you can proceed with the Hardware Co-Simulation step. 

 

System Generator for DSP Hardware in the Loop 

 

1. Double-click the SysGen token. 

2. From the compilation drop-down menu, select XtremeDSP Development Kit -> PCI USB. 

3. Click Generate to generate the Hardware In The Loop library symbol. 

4. Drop the symbol into your design. 

5. Double-click the XtremeDSP symbol. 

6. Select the Clock mode from the drop-down menu. 

NOTE: USB simulation with the XtremeDSP Kit is only supported for the Free Running Clock mode. Xilinx recommends that you use PCI or JTAG Hardware in the Loop. 

7. Select "PCI" from the Bus Type drop-down menu. 

8. Click OK. 

9. Press Play in Simulink to start the simulation.
