6.1 EDK - Opening a PBD block diagram causes XPS to crash when the project contains peripherals located in a remote peripheral repository directory

Description

Keywords: PBD, XPS, EDK, Crash, Fatal, obsolete, GuiUtilities, WinApp

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When I open a PBD block diagram, the following error message occurs:

"FATAL_ERROR:GuiUtilities:WinApp.c:657"

XPS issues this error when the project contains peripherals located in a remote peripheral repository directory. XPS correctly detects the peripheral, and PlatGen correctly builds the netlist; however, if I double-click the PBD file in the XPS System view, an exception occurs.

The same project will work correctly if the peripheral is moved to the standard EDK installation pcores directory.

Solution

This problem is fixed in the latest 6.2 EDK Service Pack, available at:
http://www.xilinx.com/ise/embedded/edk.htm.
The first service pack containing the fix is EDK 6.2 Service Pack 1.
