6.1i/6.2i iMPACT - The XCF16P appears as an "Unknown Device" when I attempt an "Initialize Chain" operation

Description

General Description:

In 6.1i iMPACT, when performing an "Initialize Chain" operation on a JTAG chain that contains a XCF16P device, the XCF16P appears as an unknown device, and the following message occurs:

"Identifying chain contents ....

The part does not appear to be Xilinx Part.

INFO:iMPACT:501 - '1': Added Device UNKNOWN successfully."

Solution

This problem does not prevent you from performing any JTAG operations on the device. To proceed, you can assign the unknown device the appropriate ".mcs" or ".exo" file, and then perform any Program, Verify, or IDCODE operations as usual.

This problem will be fixed in the 6.2i Service Pack 1 software release.
