AR# 20926 7.1i Schematic - BSCAN_SPARTAN3E and CAPTURE_SPARTAN3E components generate "ERROR:HDLCompilers:87" in XST

General Description:
During synthesis, a Spartan-3E schematic design containing BSCAN_SPARTAN3E and/or CAPTURE_SPARTAN3E symbols will fail with the following error(s):

ERROR:HDLCompilers:87 - <sch_name>.vf line <line #> Could not find module/primitive 'CAPTURE_SPARTAN3E'
ERROR:HDLCompilers:87 - <sch_name>.vf line <line #> Could not find module/primitive 'BSCAN_SPARTAN3E'

Solution

The BSCAN_SPARTAN3E and CAPTURE_SPARTAN3E primitives have been replaced with BSCAN_SPARTAN3 and CAPTURE_SPARTAN3. Spartan-3E schematic designs should use BSCAN_SPARTAN3 and CAPTURE_SPARTAN3 symbols.

This problem has been fixed in the latest 7.1i Service Pack available at:
http://support.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is 7.1i Service Pack 1.
