Can I install ISE on any Linux Distribution (Gentoo, Suse, Fedora, RH9, Debian, etc.)?

Please check the Release Notes for supported Linux versions, Xilinx Technical Support does not handle cases on Linux distributions not listed there.

However, you can attempt to use the following information to help you work around major issues.

The ./setup script exits silently

You can resolve this issue by turning off SELinux during the installation process, then enabling it again.

[Install_path]/[program]: error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.3

You can resolve this issue by installing the Openmotif library and Portmap Package from your distribution's update site or from a generic update site such as http://rpmfind.net.

Note: If you do not obtain the package directly from the vendor, you might void any service warranties.

If you receive a similar error but with a different missing library, you can also search for other necessary packages and install them.

[Install_path]/[program]: error while loading shared libraries: libuuid.so.3

You can resolve this issue by installing the e2fsprogs package.

"Wind/U Error {248}: Failed to connect to the registry on server [server_name]"

You can resolve this issue by installing the Portmap package.

"Wind/U X-toolkit Error: wuDisplay: Cannot open display"

Try setting the DISPLAY variable as DISPLAY=:0 rather than DISPLAY=:0.0

Cannot run the setup script due to permissions.

Try mounting your CD-ROM with executable permissions, check the permissions of any downloaded files, or try installing as root.
