10.1 Floorplanner - How do I create an RPM with block RAMs?

Description

I want to create an RPM in my device that contains some slice logic and a block RAM component. Can I do this?

Solution

In older architectures like Virtex-E (pre Virtex-II), you cannot use RLOC constraints on block RAMs. These devices used the column/row-based coordinates instead of SLICE/BRAM/MULT X,Y coordinates.

Also, RPM_GRID is not supported in older architectures. You can use RPM_GRID for Vritex-II and newer architectures, but this must be done by hand as Floorplanner does not support RPM_GRID. The best solution is to use LOC constraints for the block RAM.
