Does the Virtex-4 RocketIO support PAM-5 signaling, such as is used in 1000 Base-T?

Solution

The Virtex-4 RocketIO supports NRZ signaling only. This means it cannot support 1000 Base-T directly which requires PAM-5 signaling. An alternative is to use a 1000 Base-T PHY with a SGMII or Serdes MAC (clock recovered version of SGMII with no TXCLK) interface.
