AR# 21281 7.1i ISE - Open State Diagram (.dia file) from Project Navigator and StateCAD gives the error "Could not open file -instyle ise <filename>.dia"

General Description:
Trying to open any ".dia" file from Project Navigator results in StateCAD opening with an error message:

"Could not open file -instyle ise <file_name>.dia. StateCAD can not open files using long names (non 8.3 format) or files in use by another process."

Example: A project test.ise in c:\test contains a source file my_state.DIA.

If I attempt to open "my_state.DIA" StateCAD opens with the error message:

"Could not open file -instyle ise c:\test\my_state.DIA. StateCAD cannot open files using long names (non 8.3 format) or files in use by another process."

Solution

StateCAD is not recognizing a command switch sent from Project Navigator. To work around this issue, select File -> Open from the StateCAD menu and open the desired State Diagram once StateCAD opens.

This problem has been fixed in the latest 7.1i Service Pack available at:
http://support.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is 7.1i Service Pack 2.
