Description

Keywords: MGT, TXINHIBIT, TXDATA, TXRESET

Does the TXRESET signal work the same in the Virtex-II Pro, Virtex-II Pro X and Virtex-4 MGTs? Does it affect TXDATA?

Solution

In Virtex-II Pro, the TXRESET forces the TXDATA to the PMA to be all "0"s. The TXINHIBIT has priority over TXRESET.

In Virtex-II Pro X, the TXRESET forces the TXDATA to the PMA to be "0x55555555" (basically a 10101010 pattern). The TXRESET has priority over TXINHIBIT.

If TXRESET is asserted, the TXDATA to the PMA is "0x55555555" regardless of TXINHIBIT.

If TXRESET is deasserted, then the TXINHIBIT will change the data input to the PMA to "0x00000000."

In Virtex-4, the TXRESET forces the TXDATA to the PMA to be all "0"s. The TXINHIBIT has priority over TXRESET.
