LogiCORE RAM-based Shift Register v9.0 - Why do I receive an out of memory error when generating a large RAM-based Shift Register?

I receive the following error message when trying to generate a RAM-based Shift Register using Version 9.0 in Core Generator 8.2I:

"ERROR:coreutil - Failure to generate output products"

Why do I receive an out of memory error when generating a large RAM-based Shift Register?

Solution

The size of the RAM-based Shift Register core that can be generated is dependent on the amount of system memory of the machine CORE Generator is running on. For a PC with 2 GB of memory, the approximate maximum core size that can be successfully generated is 70,000 bits. To calculate the size of the core in bits, multiply the Width and Depth parameters together.

If you need a larger RAM-based Shift Register, you will need to use a machine with more memory. Solaris or Linux can address memory beyond the 2 GB limit imposed by most PCs.
