System Generator for DSP - Why do I receive "Error loading co-simulation DLL XtremeDSPCosimEngine.dll" when trying to use Hardware in the Loop (HITL) with the XtremeDSP Kit?

Problem Description:

When generating the HW Cosimulation library for the Xtreme DSP Kit II, xflow (synthesis, translate, MAP, PAR, BitGen) completes successfully, but the HW COSIM library is not being generated. The following error message is seen in SysGen:

"An error was encountered in the Xtreme DSP Hardware co-simulation flow"

Opening the Xtreme_dsp error log shows the more specific message:

Could not generate hardware co-simulation block. The following error was encountered: Error using ==> add_block

Error reported by S-function 'xlcosim' in 'tuningpro_hwcosim_lib/TuningPro hwcosim':

-- Error loading co-simulation DLL XtremeDSPCosimEngine.dll.

You must install the XtremeDSP Kit software in order to use the XtremeDSP Kit in your PC:

This includes the following CDs:

1. Nallatech FUSE software CD

2. XtremeDSP Kit CD

These CDs contain the APIs and plug-ins necessary for software, including the System Generator Hardware in the Loop to talk to the XtremeDSP Kit USER_FPGA.
