7.1i Virtex-4 MAP - "FATAL_ERROR:Pack:pksbacomprestrict.c:139:1.12"

My design fails during MAP with the following error:

"Running directed packing...

FATAL_ERROR:Pack:pksbacomprestrict.c:139:1.12 - Problem encountered converting

X, Y. Process will terminate. To resolve this error, please consult the

Answers Database and other online resources at http://support.xilinx.com. If

you need further assistance, please open a Webcase by clicking on the

"WebCase" link at http://support.xilinx.com"

What does this mean?

This error occurs when MAP encounters invalid RLOC coordinates in an RPM Grid macro. The error is typically seen when a design from a previous architecture is retargetted to Virtex-4. The column spacing has changed in Virtex-4, so RPM Grid macros with multiple columns that were created for architectures prior to Virtex-4 will not work with Virtex-4. It will be necessary to upgrade any cores that encounter this problem when retargetting a design to Virtex-4.
