7.1i EDK - Certain MicroBlaze 4.0 cache link (XCL) sizes create errors during PAR

Description

Keywords: 2K, 4K, byte

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When running EDK 7.1i Service Pack 1 (SP1) systems that use either 2k or 4k byte cache sizes, the following errors occur:

"ERROR:Pack:679 - Unable to obey design constraints (MACRONAME=microblaze_0, RLOC=X6Y18) which require the combination of the following symbols into a single SLICE component: MUXCY symbol "microblaze_0/microblaze_0/ICache_I1/Compare_MUXCY_I0" (Output Signal = microblaze_0/microblaze_0/ICache_I1/Compare_MUXCY_I0/O) MUXCY symbol "microblaze_0/microblaze_0/ICache_I1/Compare_MUXCY_I1" (Output Signal = microblaze_0/microblaze_0/ICache_I1/Compare_MUXCY_I1/O) MUXCY symbol "microblaze_0/microblaze_0/ICache_I1/Compare_MUXCY_I2" (Output Signal = microblaze_0/microblaze_0/ICache_I1/Compare_MUXCY_I2/O) There are more than two MUXCY symbols. Please correct the design constraints accordingly."

The parameters associated with the XCL are C_ICACHE_USE_FSL and C_DCACHE_USE_FSL.

Solution

MicroBlaze will successfully pass if a cache size of 8K is used.

This problem has been fixed in the latest 7.1i EDK Service Pack available at:
http://support.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is 7.1i EDK Service Pack 2.
