8.1i CORE Generator - "ERROR:coreutil - sim:178 - Attempting to set invalid value: (Component_Name, 802).ERROR:coreutil..."

Keywords: new, ip, source, name, check, illegal, customize, generate, COREGen

When I create a new IP core through the Project Navigator New Source Wizard, the following error occurs:

"ERROR:coreutil - sim:178 - Attempting to set invalid value: (Component_Name, 802).ERROR:coreutil - sim - Component_Name: The name cannot begin with a digit."

Project Navigator 8.1i New Source Wizard does not check for illegal names. Therefore, a non-valid name can be passed for the new IP core.

A Core Generator IP core name must adhere to the following rules:
- Cannot have uppercase
- Cannot begin with a digit
- Cannot have special characters such as . , * % $

The Project Navigator New Source Wizard will be enhanced to check for non-valid core names before the core customization GUI is called.

This issue is fixed in the latest 8.1i Service Pack, available at:
The first service pack containing the fix is 8.1i Service Pack 1.
