Project Navigator takes several minutes to launch ChipScope Core Inserter on a Linux platform.

Solution

The long delay when launching ChipScope Core Inserter is a Linux-specific problem. When ChipScope Inserter is launched by itself, it comes up very quickly and does not take significant CPU cycles.

This problem has been fixed in the latest 8.1i Service Pack, available at:
http://www.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is 8.1i Service Pack 2.
