AR# 23105 9.1i ISE - Project Navigator GUI is unresponsive or slow to respond while processing schematic-based design

The Project Navigator GUI becomes extremely unresponsive during certain processes.

In a schematic or schematic/core based design, when the Synthesize - XST process is run, a number of sub-processes are run prior to running XST. For a large design containing many schematics and IP cores, the GUI is almost completely unresponsive.

Solution

For each of the schematic or IP core modules in a design, Project Navigator receives multiple GUI messages as the module is processed. The number of messages received cannot be handled by the GUI without causing degradation of response time.

This problem has been fixed in the latest 9.1i Service Pack available at:
http://www.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is 9.1i Service Pack 3.
