8.1i IBISWriter - 'I' and 'O' (input and output) suffixes in model names are handled incorrectly

Description

Keywords: IBIS

An IBIS file generated by IBISWriter might incorrectly use the 'I' and 'O' (input and output) suffix in model names and pin list entries. This will cause discrepancies between model names and pin list entires, as well as redundant models. The 'I' and 'O' suffixes should be used for DCI models only, due to the nature of these models.

This problem has been seen in a Virtex-4 design. The IBIS file for this design showed another problem: model data was erroneously attached after the [End] keyword of the file.

It is unknown if these problems are interrelated. It is also unknown if designs targeting other device families might suffer from these problems.

Solution

The IBIS file will have to be manually corrected.

A fix to IBISWriter is pending. Please contact Xilinx Technical Support for more information:
