Install - "Variable name too long" when using "echo $<VARIABLE>" on UNIX

Description

Keywords: environment variable, linux, long name, csh, tcsh, echo

After setting a recommended Xilinx environment variable, I checked to make sure it was set correctly by typing:

"echo $<VARIABLE>"

This returned the message "Variable name too long".

Solution

To check long variables on UNIX, use "printenv" rather than "echo."
