I receive the following fatal error when clicking XMD -> XMD Debug Options:

"FATAL_ERROR:GuiUtilities:Gq_Application.c:570:1.12.10.2 - This application has discovered
an exceptional condition from which it cannot recover. Process will terminate. To resolve this error......"

Solution

To resolve this error, delete the "xmd_*.opt" file in the "etc" folder of your project directory.

This problem has been fixed in the latest EDK 8.2i Service Pack, available at:
http://www.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is EDK 8.2i Service Pack 1.
