The 8.2i version of iMPACT can crash when it is run on a Linux workstation. This occurs during the second attempt to program a device after the ".bit" file has been updated.

iMPACT allows users to update and overwrite a ".bit" file while the GUI is open and the bit file is assigned to the device. At this point, iMPACT prompts if the new ".bit" file is to be utilized, and the user can click "yes" to use the updated bit file.

The software crashes when this operation occurs on a Linux workstation with 8.2i.

Solution

This problem has been resolved in 9.1i.

To work around this issue, delete the devices in the workspace before updating the ".bit" file.
