LogiCORE Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) v5.0 - Why do I see an extra channel on the output of my multi-channel behavioral simulation?

Description

Why do I see an extra channel on the output of my multi-channel behavioral simulation? For example, the following sequence occurs for a three-channel DDS:

... 0, 1, 2, 3, 0, 1, 2, 3 ....

Solution

This is a known problem in the behavioral simulation of the DDS v5.0 that is fixed in the DDS Compiler v1.0 and all newer versions of the DDS Compiler which has replaced the DDS v5.0 Core.

You can work around this problem by using the post-translate simulation model. For more information, see (Xilinx Answer 22333).
