MPMC2 GUI v1.7 - Memory Configuration requires more chip selects than what the GUI generates

Description

The system only has enough chip selects for 1 DIMM (or component) and the MPMC2 IP Configurator (GUI) is not adding the signals for the second DIMM. How do I add in the necessary signals if the GUI will not?

Solution

This is a known issue with MPMC2 IP Configurator and is not indicated in the Release Notes.

To work around this problem, do the following:

1. Make a backup copy of the MHS file.

2. Open the MHS file for editing.

3. Find the MPMC2 instance.

4. Add or modify the C_MPMC2_0_MEM_CS_N_WIDTH to the number of chip selects desired. You should ensure that the parameter is not already defined, since a duplicate parameter entry will cause the XPS tool to generate an error.

Depending on the board, you might also need to change or add the following:

* C_MPMC2_0_MEM_CLK_WIDTH

* C_MPMC2_0_MEM_CE_WIDTH

* C_MPMC2_0_MEM_ODT_WIDTH

Again, you should ensure that the parameter is not already defined, since a duplicate parameter entry will cause the XPS tool to generate an error.

These parameters all have the same prefix as the C_MPMC2_0_MEM_CS_N_WIDTH. Avoid overwriting any of the other width parameters in the MHS file, as you might end up with unexpected results.
