This Answer Record describes a change in the behavior of the comma alignment circuit in the GTP transceiver from ES to Production silicon. The Production behavior is represented in the GTP_DUAL SmartModel starting in 9.2.01i.

Solution

In ES Silicon and in 9.1.03 and earlier SmartModels
The first comma received will cause realignment in the receiver and RXCOMMADET will toggle High. However, the first comma might not be present on the RXDATA port. All subsequent commas will show up correctly on the RXDATA port.

In Production Silicon and in 9.2.01 and later SmartModels
The first comma received will cause realignment in the receiver and RXCOMMADET will toggle High. The first comma detected will be present on the RXDATA port. All subsequent commas will also show up correctly on the RXDATA port.
