How to complete parallel configuration with .mcs file when configuration data bus swapped?

Description

How do I complete parallel configuration with ".mcs" file when configuration data bus swapped?

Solution

1. Generate a ".mcs" file using PromGen.

2. Bit-swap all the data (2-32 chars) and recalculate the checksum.

3. Assign the modified mcs file to prom.

4. In impact Edit->Preference->Configuration Preference, change the SPI Byte Swap to "Ignore Setting". Skip this step unless a warning appears: WARNING:IMPACT Configuration filename.mcs does not have data correctly formatted for this Configuration Mode

5. Program the prom.

To understand mcs file formats, refer to (Xilinx Answer 476).
