On a 64-bit machine, netlist generation fails and the MATLAB workspace has the following messages:

"There is a problem with your Xilinx ISE installation or with your XILINX environment variable."

or

"Could not run "c:\Xilinx\java\nt\jre\bin\java.exe -Djava.class.path="C:/Xilinx/dsptools/9.2.00.967/sysgen\bin\sysgen.jar;c:\Xilinx\coregen\lib\coreutil.jar;
c:\Xilinx\coregen\lib\encore.jar;c:\Xilinx\coregen\lib\xcc.jar;c:\Xilinx\coregen\lib\sim.jar" com.xilinx.sysgen.java.util.CoreGenIFServer -mp 4001 -x "c:\Xilinx"" "

Solution

These messages can occur if your Xilinx ISE is a 64-bit installation. This is not a supported setup, and 32-bit ISE should be used.

To resolve this issue, uninstall 64-bit ISE and install the 32-bit version.

To install 32-bit ISE on a 64-bit OS:
1. Open the appropriate folder for 32-bit Windows on the install DVD.
2. Run setup.exe
