Spartan and Virtex - Do Xilinx FPGAs have charge pumps?

Description

Do the Spartan or Virtex FPGAs have internal charge pumps?

Solution

The following Xilinx FPGAs DO NOT have internal charge pumps:

Virtex-II

Virtex-II Pro

Virtex-4

Virtex-5

Spartan-3

Spartan-3E

Spartan-3A

Spartan-3A DSP

The following Xilinx FPGAs DO have internal charge pumps:

Virtex

Virtex-E

Spartan-II

Spartan-IIE

NOTE: The Spartan-3AN FPGA does not have an internal charge pump. However, there is an internal flash that does have charge pumps, which is a must for flash to work. There are charge pumps used during program/erase and also a small low current standby pump. The standby pump is always on. If it is a must that you turn these charge pumps off, please contact Technical Support and reference this Answer Record.
