14.x Constraint System - "WARNING:Par:236 - Voltage and/or Temperature prorating constraints have been defined for this design but they are not yet supported for this architecture"

Description

When I apply Voltage and Temperature constraints in the Constraint Editor and implement the design, I see the following warning:

WARNING:Par:236 - Voltage and/or Temperature prorating constraints have been defined for this design but they are not yet supported for this architecture

What is the reason for this? How do I know if the device is in PRODUCTION status?

Solution

Not all devices support Voltage and Temperature prorating until the timing information (speed files) is marked as PRODUCTION status and the speed files are updated. You can run "speedprint" for your device and it will report whether the Temperature and Voltage prorating is available.

Note: for Virtex-6 FPGA, although the speed files are marked as PRODUCTION, they do not have temperature and voltage derating information.

You will see the following words in speedprint output:

This speed grade does not support reporting delays for specific voltage and temperature conditions.

Adding this information to speed files is planned in a future software release.
