When I use PlanAhead on a design that uses a Xilinx core that is secure (such as SPI4.2), the following error occurs:

"ERROR:XDL - XDL cannot run on a protected design"

Solution

Check to make sure the secure core you have purchased from Xilinx was not generated with a simulation-only or evaluation license. A fully licensed core should not exhibit this behavior.
