ERROR: ChipScope Insertion failed

Why does this occur?

Solution

This issue is caused by a mismatch in Service Pack between your ISE install and your ChipScope Pro install. They should match; ISE 10.1 Service Pack 3 should be used with ChipScope Pro 10.1 Service Pack 3. Using ChipScope Pro 10.1.03 with an earlier ISE version results in the above Java Hotspot error. This principle also applies for all subsequent 11.x releases.
