The Endpoint fails to train, and the MGTs are not transmitting anything other than electrical idle.

Solution

This issue occurs because the TX Synchronization module used for transmitter phase alignment is not completing and the MGTs are held in reset. If your link is training to at least an x1, then this issue does not affect you.

This issue was fixed by introducing a counter to satisfy the requirements of the Tlockmax parameter discussed in the Virtex-5 FPGA Data Sheet (DS202).

A fix for this is available in the v1.9 Rev 1 patch. See (Xilinx Answer 31572) for access to the patch.
