When I view the Xinfo System Checker fileset.txt data, it appears that the DSP Tools have been installed. The XILINX/DSP_Tools directory has been created; however, I do not appear to have access to these tools.

How can I discover if the DSP Tools are installed and configured for use in MATLAB?

Solution

From the MATLAB command prompt type:
>> xlVersion

This should return the version of System Generator you are currently using. If this command is not found or the wrong version is returned, the DSP Tools are not installed or configured.

You can confirm that the 11.3 DSP Tools have been installed by either of the following:

1. Opening the file "fileset.txt" within the %XILINX%/DSP_Tools directory or by launching Xinfo System Checker.

The last line in %XILINX%/DSP_Tools/fileset.txt and in the DSP Tools section of Xinfo should be similar to the following:

Tue Mar 10 12:36:11 TZ 2009:: summary=System Generator for DSP and AccelDSP Synthesis Tool

If this line is missing, the DSP Tools have not been installed.

2. Alternatively, you can check in the directory %XILIXN%/DSP_Tools and confirm if there is a directory named "nt" or "lin" present; if not, the DSP Tools have not been installed.

For details on how to install just the DSP Tools from the IDS installer, see (Xilinx Answer 32258).

If you have confirmed that the DSP Tools are installed, but do not see the System Generator for DSP blockset in your Simulink Library Browser, you might need to run the MATLAB Configuration Manager by double-clicking the System Generator for DSP icon on the desktop or from the start menu.
