The CDC FIFO uses SRL16s which cannot be reset. Although it has not been seen commonly, it could be possible for the SRL16 to get an incorrect value.

Solution

In OBSAI v3.1 and later, logic has been added to flush the FIFO to insure that problems will not occur.
