AR# 33221 SP601 - Schematics point to XC6SLX16 I/O net names that differ from Packaging and Pinout Specifications and pkg files

Description

There are some minor discrepancies in I/O net names in SP601 schematics (can accessed from http://www.xilinx.com/sp601)and the Spartan-6 FPGA Packaging and Pinout Specifications (UG385.pdf) and pkg files.

For example, pin A16 is referred to in the SP601 schematic as IO_L30N_0_SCP0_A16. However, in the pinout files (http://www.xilinx.com/support/packagefiles/s6packages/6slx16csg324pkg.txt)it is pointed to as IO_L66N_SCP0_0. Is the schematic in error?

Solution

The I/O pin names referred to in the Spartan-6 FPGA Packaging and Pinout Specification and the Pinout Files override the pin names used in the Schematics. The ISE software should be identical to the Pinout Files:

These differences in naming conventions should not impact successfully targeting your design to the SP601 Development Platform.
