11.2 iMPACT - _impact4 - "A Xilinx Application has encountered an unexpected error"

When I attempt to add a PROM file for an attached SPI/BPI flash, iMPACT crashes with a pop-up that indicates:
"A Xilinx Application has encountered an unexpected error".


The following message is also displayed in the console:
"INFO:iMPACT:1353 - ACD entry X8_READ not found for device family"

How do I work around this issue?

Solution

Virtex-6L FPGA
To work around this issue for Virtex-6L FPGA, assign a Virtex-6 device bit file to the Virtex-6L device.

Spartan-6 FPGA
To work around this issue delete the <prom_file_name>.cfi associated with your PROM file.

This issue is scheduled to be resolved in iMPACT 11.4.
