I tried using shell commands such as "ls" or "cd" in the ISIM GUI Tcl prompt; however, I encounter the following error:

"channel "isimConsole" wasn't opened for writing"

How can I resolve this error?

Solution

This is a known issue. It has been fixed in ISE Design Suite 11 Update 2 (11.2).

Please download and install the latest ISE Design Suite update from the Download Center at: http://www.xilinx.com/support/download/index.htm.
