Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) v2.0, v2.01 - Why do I see poor performance or diagnostics with Over-Drive Protection (ODP) and damped-Newton updates?

Why do I see poor performance or diagnostics with Over-Drive Protection (ODP) and damped-Newton updates?

Solution

There might be poor performance or diagnostics with Over-Drive Protection (ODP) and damped-Newton updates enabled. This could be an issue with software coefficient management. This is fixed in v2.1 by using Least Squares updates when ODP occurs. When using the DCL controller, all DPD updates will be full Least Squares updates until the over-drive condition is cleared. This ensures the fastest method to detect when OD is no longer occurring, and corrects a previous error in the interaction of ODP and dN updates that could cause instability.
