AR# 34270 11.4 - An "ERROR:Pack:1107" message occurs without detailed information

Description

In ISE 11.4, my design fails with the following errorduring MAP:

"ERROR:Pack:1107 - Pack was unable to combine the symbols listed below into a
single IOB component because the site type selected is not compatible.

Further explanation:
The component already has an input slave buffer.

How to enable a complete message printing?"

The message does not provide any details for debugging the issue such as which logical symbols are involved. What can I do to resolve this error.

Solution

This error occurs when an IOB component contains a packing error. Normally, the symbols involved are listed along with the component type involved and a reason for the failure. A regression bug was introduced in ISE 11.4 where the error is printed without this important information. This problem has been fixed for ISE 12.1. Meanwhile, a more useful error messageis provided if the design is run in ISE 11.3 design tools.
