10.1/11.x ChipScope Pro - "No valid units or devices are available given this signal import file."

Description

I receive the followingmessage in the bottom window in ChipScope Pro Analyzer when I import the CDC file:

"No valid units or devices are available given this signal import file."

How can I resolve the problem?

Solution

There are a few reasons why the CDC file cannot be imported:

  • The ChipScope cores in the design are not detected by the ChipScope Pro Analyzer. If this is the case, you should see the following information in the bottom window in Analyzer:

"INFO: Found 0 Core Unitsin the JTAG device Chain."

For the solutions of this issue, see (Xilinx Answer 19337).

  • If you are using the ChipScope Pro CORE Generator Flow, choose the correct Unit/Device to import the CDC, as shown below:

  • If you are using the ChipScope Pro Core Inserter Flow, make sure the CDC file is completed (e.g.,it might have beentruncated when you downloaded it from a remote location).
  • If you generated the CDC file from FPGA Editor, it might not work properly.
