AR# 34714 Spartan-6 FPGA Block RAM - Data2Mem does not support 9Kb block RAM

Data2Mem does not support use on 9K block RAM in Spartan-6 devices.

Solution


Issue Description

Data2Mem does not currently support the RAMB8 block in Spartan-6 devices. If Data2Mem is used on the RAMB8 block, it results in unknown behavior.

Affected Components
RAMB8BWER in any mode when used with Data2Mem.

Software Behavior
  • ISE Design Suite 11.5 and earlier - Data2Mem is not supported for use with RAMB8BWER.
  • ISE Design Suite 12.1 and later - Data2Mem is not supported for use with RAMB8BWER.
  • A fix is still under investigation for a future revision of ISE Design Suite software.
Workaround

There is no workaround at this time. Please contact Xilinx Technical Support for further assistance.
