AR# 34949 Design Advisory for ML605 CompactFlash - Quality Issue

Some SanDisk 2GB (SDCFH-002G-A11) consumer-grade commodity CompactFlash(CF) cards might fail to configure the FPGA after a System ACE CF controller reset. (See (Xilinx Answer 34948) on variability of commodity CF cards.)

For ML605 and SP605 Evaluation platform users, if your SanDisk 2GB CF card fails to configure the FPGA after pressing the System ACE Reset button, use the Power-switch instead:

1. Set the System ACE CF configuration address DIP switch to the desired address (Binary 0-7).

a. ML605: S1 "SACE MODE" 4-position DIP switch

i. Position 1-3: Configuration Address (LSB->MSB)

ii. Position 4: System ACE CF enabled when ON

b. SP605: S1 "SACE MODE" 4-position DIP switch

i. Position 1-3: Configuration Address (LSB->MSB)

ii. Position 4: System ACE CF enabled when ON

2. Power-cycle the Evaluation Platform.

3. Observe that the DONE LED is illuminated after the FPGA configures successfully.
