AR# 35290 MIG v3.4, Spartan-6L - Error when using Synplify Pro as a synthesis tool and targeting low power Spartan-6 devices

Description

When targeting a Spartan-6L device with Synplify Pro, the memory controller designs fail to synthesize and give the following error:

Error: Unrecognized technology: spartan6l

This is as a result of incorrect technology option provided in "script_synp.tcl" file in "/example_top/synth" directory for the example design and "/user_design/synth" directory for the user design.

Solution

The technology option for Synplify Pro in "script_synp.tcl" is currently provided as:

set_option -technology spartan6l

To correct this and work around this issue, this has to be modified to:

set_option -technology "Spartan6-Lower-Power"

This will be resolved in the next release of MIG 3.5 in ISE Design Suite 12.2.
