My design is taking a long time to route and the router is printing "Intermediate status" messages. What do they mean?
Starting Router
Phase 1 : 519186 unrouted; REAL time: 9 mins 47 secs
Phase 2 : 446242 unrouted; REAL time: 11 mins 31 secs
Phase 3 : 174368 unrouted; REAL time: 22 mins 37 secs
Phase 4 : 177756 unrouted; (Setup:18361, Hold:7338, Component Switching Limit:0) REAL time: 30 mins 4 secs
Intermediate status: 31155 unrouted; REAL time: 1 hrs 42 secs
Intermediate status: 24195 unrouted; REAL time: 1 hrs 30 mins 47 secs
Intermediate status: 16194 unrouted; REAL time: 2 hrs 51 secs
Intermediate status: 8965 unrouted; REAL time: 2 hrs 30 mins 59 secs
Intermediate status: 5569 unrouted; REAL time: 3 hrs 1 mins 17 secs
Intermediate status: 2596 unrouted; REAL time: 3 hrs 31 mins 17 secs
Intermediate status: 918 unrouted; REAL time: 4 hrs 1 mins 18 secs
Intermediate status: 2879 unrouted; REAL time: 4 hrs 32 mins 31 secs
Intermediate status: 5480 unrouted; REAL time: 5 hrs 4 mins 17 secs
Intermediate status: 5969 unrouted; REAL time: 5 hrs 35 mins 8 secs
Intermediate status: 1586 unrouted; REAL time: 6 hrs 5 mins 9 secs
Updating file: trframer_chip_top.ncd with current fully routed design.
Phase 5 : 0 unrouted; (Setup:1278796, Hold:6374, Component Switching Limit:0) REAL time: 6 hrs 34 mins 49 secs
Intermediate status: 47965 unrouted; REAL time: 7 hrs 10 mins 32 secs
The Intermediate Status message is printed whenevera routing phase goes 30 minutes without completing. The intent is to provide evidence that the router is still active and to provide information on the routing progress. The message is not an error condition, but is an indication that the router is having to work hard to complete the design.
