My design fails during NGDBUILD.It crashes inthe phase "Checking expanded design ..." Are there any known problems that can explain this failure?

A problem has been seen where NGDBUILD will crash during this phase when an IDDR with an undriven D pin is encountered. This problem has been fixed for ISE software 12.2, currently scheduled for late July 2010. Meanwhile, there is no workaround other than to modify the circuit involved. A patch for ISE 12.1 can be requested by opening a webcase and referring to this Answer by number.
