Project Navigator - "ERROR: Failed to map the library"

Whenattempt to launch a behavioral simulation via the "Simulate Behavioral Model" process in the ISE tools, the followingerror occurs:

"ERROR: Failed to map the library
Reason: couldn't execute "vmap": no such file or directory"

How can I resolve this issue?

To resolve this issue, check for the following:

  • Make sure that ModelSim has been successfully installed at the location pointed to in the Integrated Tools section of the ISE Preferences.
  • This error can occur if the ModelSim installation path is not referenced in the PATH environment variable.Make sure that the path (e.g., C:\Modeltech_6.3c\win32) exists in the user or system environment variable.
  • The error could be caused by libraries not being mapped properly in the modelsim.ini file in the Modelsim installation directory. This typically happens if compxlib is run outside ofProject Navigator, or if the version of ModelSim referenced in the "Compile HDL Simulation Libraries" process is different than the version being sourced when simulation is run.
